Ram Bahadur Bomjon, popularly known as Buddha Boy, who disapperead in March this year has been spotted near a dense forest in Pathlaiya nijgadh, on Sunday night. Local hunters, who had been out hunting in the jungle spotted Bomjon first.
Few things we know from media after his reappearance:
He looked slender than before, was in grimy cloths and had long hair flowing down his shoulder.
He was carrying a sharp sword with him and when asked why he needed it, he said he’s carrying it for his own protection.
He claims that he still hadn’t eaten any food, but eats herbs. He wandered around the jungles in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat districts.
His pervious handlers, the members of the Tapaswi Sewa Samiti, are settling up a place for his meditation nearby the Halkhori Lake in Ratanpuri.
“I am engaged in devotion which will continue for six years,” the boy told reporters.
He doesn’t want the new meditation site to be noisy and wants his followers to keep 10 meters distance.
When asked what to do with the donations that his followers and visitors would make, he urged to do anything with the donations, but keep from engaging in business or misuse.

UWB has posted a recently taken photo of Ram’s mother and sister in No News of Buddha boy but the life goes on…
A significant number of users land in my blog searching for the keywords “buddha boy”, “meditating boy”, “boy with extraordinary powers”, “the boy with divine powers”, “buddha boy update”, “ram bahadur bomjon” and so on… The recent airing of My Shocking Story: The Boy With Divine Powers by Discovery Channel has taken this story to the wider audience. Now more people know about him and are curious about where he might be. Looking at the comments of visitors and emails that I received, I can see there are 4 types of people following his story.
The first type of people are confident that this was/is a hoax. They say it is scientifically impossible for anyone to sit in one place without eating and drinking for such a long time. This was a well planned hoax to deceive innocent people and get their money.
The second group of people believe that he’s holy and divine. One guy reasoned it like this — “You see he has been meditating for 10 months without food and water, and is immune to fire and snake bites. Who do you think he is?”
There’s a third group, who think he’s the reincarnation of Buddha. This reincarnation thought was implanted and made popular by captivating headlines that many mainstream media choose, while Ram was meditating, and after he went missing.
The final fourth group of people are open minded, curious and not exactly sure what’s going on.
I’m one from the fourth group. I’m very deeply interested in this story. I feel something significant is going on here. I think all the attention he got was something he never asked for. I hope he’s safe, in a peaceful place and progressing with his meditation. Like the critics and believers I’m waiting for his appearance after 6 years to see what he has to say.
By the way, what do you think about Buddha boy?

eKatnipur.com is reporting that a girl in far western Nepal emits ‘glass pieces’ from forhead. A team of doctors are researching on 12-year-old girl, who has been excreting glass pieces from the side of her forehead for the last three years.
“The CT scan report indicates that she has some kind of problem in her forehead skin,” said Dr M Kiduwai who is involved in the research, “The pieces do not seem to be coming out from the bone. But we can give more details only after further investigation.”
Here are some other mysterious phenomena reported by media:
Lekhnath School girls continue to suffer from “mass hysteria” - The students shouted, cried and fell unconscious in fear uttering that they saw an enormous snake that was about to pounce on them, according to the teachers.
World’s shortest boy - 14 years old and 20-inch tall Nepali boy. He’s probably the shortest boy in the world, but to qualify for the Guinness World Records he’ll have to wait for 4 more years until he reaches 18.
Bizarre baby born in Dolakha (WARNING! you might find the images disturbing) - A neck-less baby was born with extraordinarily large eyeballs. Died within half an hour.
The Buddha Boy of Nepal - Ram Bahadur Bomjon, who meditated under a pipal tree for 10-months before he went missing on March 2006. He’s said he’ll be back after 6 years.

Wayne Chen has created a web site 2012, which is about the events he believes will happen in the years leading up to 2012. Based on what happened to him (Dec 12 to 15, 2005), Buddha Boy (completes his meditation around 2012), Mayan Calendar (ends at Dec 21, 2012), and the predictions of Remote viewing Tibetan Monks, this is what will happen:
In 2012, the world will start plunging into a total destructive nuclear war.
And at that time something remarkable will happen, says, Buddhist monk of Tibet. Supernatural divine powers will intervene. The destiny of the world is not to self-destruct at this time.
Wayne has shared some of the details of what happened to him with me but I’m not going to write about it here because he wishes to keep it private. This is what he says in his site:
What happened to you?
It was bizarre and landed me in the hospital. Let’s just leave it at that. If you must know, buy me a beer if you ever bump into me - which your only chance will be is if you lose your pride completely and go traveling. Maybe by instinct you will find me. I am not stationary for long.
Looking at the current world events we’re looming senselessly towards war. In one word this is all because of PRIDE. Look at Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Taiwan, China, US, Israel and war on terrorism. Where is all this leading us? What happens when you cannot solve problems with talks and conventional wars? Nuclear war? All this seems too bizarre but still is a very possible scenario. There’s global warming, bird flu and many civil wars going around.
Go to Wayne’s 2112 site, it has loads of information and links. If you ask me whether I believe all this? then short answer is - not sure, but It has made me seriously think about where all the recent events are leading us.

Looks like Discovery Channel is going to put a stop to our curiosity on whether the Buddha Boy was eating or not during his meditation. They’ll be airing My Shocking Story: The Boy With Divine Powers on Thursday 29 June, 10pm. But this is only for viewers in UK at this moment. If there are any readers from UK interested in Buddha Boy please leave a comment after watching the story.
For the first time ever, cameras have been allowed beyond the 50 metre fence that guards Ram. Filming him 24/7, we will be able to see if he leaves the tree or is somehow getting food and water. Doctors will also view the footage and give their views on what is happening to his body and how he might be enduring what is deemed physically impossible.
Thanks to Wayne for the link.
Update: You can watch the full documentary in Dailymotion

June issue of GQ will have a feature story THE INCREDIBLE BUDDHA BOY by George Saunders (the author of In Persuasion Nation). First portion of the story is available online which describes Saunder’s journey to Nepal. It should be very interesting to read the first hand experience of an author who went in search of a miracle. You’ll have to get the June edition of GQ for the full article.
GQ.com’s Ben Phelan, George Saunders and photographer Jeff Riedel were in Nepal to see the meditating boy before his disappearance and to capture him on film. Here is their interview.
Is the Buddha Boy a hoax?
RIEDEL: My first thought was, This kid’s made of wax, like a Madame Tussauds wax figure. And then I thought, Wait a minute, how could they do that?
SAUNDERS: These people couldn’t pull that off. And in a way it wouldn’t even come into their radar. I’m a pretty sarcastic person, and it was interesting to see how that simplicity of life, or poverty, or whatever you want to call it, also has a component of real sweetness and earnestness that was almost unimaginable to me until I saw it—this real gentle surface-level earnestness. I don’t know if you felt that, Jeff, but they were so guileless, the people we met, which made them believe in this boy more, because the level of deception you’d have to practice to pull off this hoax would even be a lot for us, in upstate New York.
You get the feeling there that if someone did something dishonorable, there’s nowhere for them to disappear to. The people in the communities know everything about each other. That’s why I thought, “In this Village Committee, you think about them trying to pull a hoax. If there’s even one person in the community that was onto it and skeptical, or felt dissed or pissed off about it or something, that’s all it would take to blow this thing up.” But you know, we’re out there five days, six days, whatever. Nobody pulled us aside to say, “Hey, you know…” And now he’s gone. Wherever he is, they can’t find him, which convinces me even more—he just got up and went deeper, to someplace where nobody can find him. And now he’s presumably happy, I guess.

Buddha Boy was spotted 3 KM away from the current meditation spot on Sunday morning according to the Om Namo Buddha Committee chairman Mr. Lama. A team of seven people from the committee came in contact with the Buddha Boy and he reportedly vanished after talking with them for half an hour. "He said he would reappear after six years. He has asked monks to perform prayers in the meditation spot," Lama claimed.

I’ve been following the news like crazy from yesterday since I read about Ram Bahadur Bomjon’s disappearance. Now almost all the major news are reporting the story. While I was writing about this in my previous article Buddha Boy Lost and Found eKantipur.com was reporting that he has been found which appears not to be true. I’ve read many news and blogs, so these are the facts known till now:

After 10 months of meditation Ram Bahadur Bomjon has mysteriously gone missing. CNN is reporting a team of police is dispatched to search him in the jungles of Bara. His photo above is taken from CNN which appears to be a new one. His hair has grown longer and is covering up to his nose. The gown should be a new one (the old one was apparently burnt by the fire erupting from his body).
Kantipur Online is reporting that the boy has been found near his meditating site. Now the story is changed to ‘Buddha boy’ Bomjon abandons meditation site (see the Update at the end of this story)
State-run Nepal Television earlier Saturday reported that whether Bomjom himself abandoned his mediation or somebody forcefully took him way was not clear.
Nepal News is saying Little Buddha “reported missing”
Ram Lama, member secretary of the committee that manages hundreds of devotees who visit the Ratnapuri to have “darshan” of the young boy, said he did not have any idea where Bomjan may have left. He, however, dismissed reports saying that Bomjan may have been abducted.
“He has left along with one of his colleagues. He must have gone in search of a quieter place,” radio reports quoted Lama as saying.

I think he’s just gone for a walk or in search for a quieter place. What do you think?
Update
Kantipur Online (eKantipur.com) has changed the story from Meditating boy Bomjon lost, Found to ‘Buddha boy’ Bomjon abandons meditation site. So, it’s unclear whether the boy is still missing or has been found. The older story of eKantipur.com is not available online but I’ve the screen capture.
